Are There Any Decent Online Degree Programs That Are Not Just Trying To Rip You Off?
Posted by hairy8684 under November[5] Comments
I am looking into a criminal justice degree online but i cannot find a decent school. The University of Phoenix almost had me but i did more research and found out that it would have been a big mistake. These schools either want to rip you off or they have poor accreditation. I know i would be better off actually going to classes but my schedule does not permit that. I know that there are decent, reputable schools out there so does anybody know of any?

I do not have any personal experience with UoP, but I have friends that took classes there and had a great experience and I know people that hated it as well. I think that looking for a school to take classes online should be treated similarly to looking for any college. You should look at a good amount of schools to see which is the best fit for you and which will give you the most opportunities after you graduate. I did a brief search for online criminal justice degrees and found this site that has some schools you might want to check out. I would check out some similar sites to get a complete list of schools to look into.

It might be worthwhile to consider traditional schools that also offer degrees on line as well. You get instruction from the same professors. Take a look at some of the links below.

You should check out the traditional colleges/universities in your area — some may offer online classes or degree programs. I did my undergraduate work at Univ. of Washington which had quite a few online classes, but as part of degree program in which at least half the required classes were on-campus. I’m not sure if there are any schools that have a program entirely online, but if you want quality education from a reputable, accredited school, going to classes on-campus can’t be avoided.
Good thing you found out about U. Phoenix. They would have taken you and your wallet for a ride.
Good luck on your school hunt.

Finding an accredited online degree program can be a task these days. There are so many for profit online based colleges that don’t focus on education, and how importance it is to give there students the same level taught degree as major universities. Start by looking at the distance education that your own state university has. If they do not offer the classes you want, then look at others. Most of the time, state universities will be less expensive than any for-profit online program that you might see offered on the internet.
